Good News! I want to let you know that despite everything that happened this spring with the virus, the youth group is still going to be going on the mission trip to Dayton, Ohio! We were kind of unsure for a long time after the virus hit if this trip was even going to be possible but it turned out that things changed just at the right time!
And just like last our trip year to Kentucky, this trip is put on by the Christian youth group ministry called LeaderTreks.
So here is some more information about our trip. It will be July 12-18th and it is an urban mission trip in the city of Dayton where we will be working at soup kitchens as well as helping out local ministries complete some outdoor service projects.
I know that this is going to be an incredible experience for the youth where they can acquire memories that will last a lifetime. It will also be an awesome opportunity for them to possibly learn something new like: how to serve others, step out in faith and grow closer in their walk with the Lord.
Also, mission trips like these are designed to help students learn spiritual habits that they can apply at home. Another thing I love about LeaderTreks trips is that discipleship is made a priority throughout each day, and they see students walk away from the trips changed and ready to live for Jesus.
But before we go, we are asking if you would be able to partner with us in this as we want to give you the opportunity to build into the youth’s lives. We want to do this so that we can get as many youth as possible on this trip!
Due to the circumstances of the virus, we don’t have all the details ironed out yet as far as an exact number needed, but it is in the ballpark of around $2500.
So if you are able to help in this way, you can do so in a couple of different avenues:
1. As always, you can give cash in the offering box at the church on Sundays by giving cash. Cash will need to be in a separate envelope that states what it's for.
2. You can give by check. Checks can be designated on the Memo line what they are for and can be made out to Old Fort Church.
3. But the easiest option may be to give right here online.
Just click the blue button on the bottom right hand corner of the screen, type in the amount you want to give and the next page will let you choose where that money goes. From there you can select Youth Mission Trip and it will continue to walk you through what to do next.
Finally, we would just like to ask everyone to pray for us during this process, that God will work out the preparation details. And also for the trip itself, that everyone will be safe and have fun as we are able to impact an entire city for Jesus.
